American Cancer Society Teams with Yahoo for Blog

How cool is this? The Society is going to team up with Yahoo.com to create a Blog called "Blog for Hope". In this Blog Yahoo and the Society are going to  recruit several celebrity bloggers who have a direct connection to cancer (as a patient, a survivor, a direct relative of a cancer patient/survivor, etc.). Over the course of a month, these celebrities will write a blog each day commencing August 15.Yahoo! will feature the story of a different celebrity participant each day, in the program’s promotion – running throughout Yahoo! networks including Yahoo! Health, Yahoo! Search, and Yahoo!’s front page.

Some of the celebrities currently confirmed for this effort include: Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Sam Donaldson, Fran Drescher, Peggy Flemming, Jill Eikenberry, Lance Armstrong, Tom Green, Representative Sue Myrick (NC), Representative Deborah Pryce (OH),  Congressman Chris Cannon (UT), and Dr. Deepak Chopra. How cool is that? Here is more from the "official" press release:

The American Cancer Society has maintained a content collaboration with Yahoo! since 2001, including working together on Great American Smokeout promotions. As part of this ongoing relationship and to further support the leadership roles to increase prevention and early detection of cancer, improve patient quality of life, and provide high quality information to the public, the Society will collaborate with Yahoo! on the "Blog For Hope" initiative. This initiative is designed to dramatically raise awareness of cancer prevention and early detection, and build online communities and connections for cancer patients, survivors, and those affected by the cancer diagnosis of a loved one.
