2004.07.21: HHS Fact Sheet–HIT Report At-A-Glance
It looks like there finally is a plan to go forward with EHR—electronic health records—on a nationwide scale. It seems like a good idea, even an inevitability if we’re ever to try to wring the paperwork surcharge out of health care costs (maybe wishful thinking!). Good concept, but the devil is always in the details. What information, for what purposes, controlled by whom? Anyway, there’s a fact sheet that gives an overview of the project. Seems to me it’s a trend that everybody—citizens and organizations like ACS—should take an interest in.
