The June 9th issue of the Chronicle of Philanthropy has a number of interesting articles based on their annual survey of Internet giving. It’s not a surprise that online donations grew sharply in 2004 for large charities. While Internet contributions still account for a small percentage of overall fundraising, the growth rate of online donations is outstanding.
The charities that raised the most online in 2004 (according to this survey) are Doctors Without Borders ($16.9 million), the National MS Society ($16.5 million), Heifer Project International ($10.3 million), the American Heart Association ($9.9 million), and World Vision ($8.5 million).
Well, none of those multi-million dollar figures is exactly chump-change.
