Researchers at Indiana University say blacks and othr minorities are a more important source for charitable donations than many poeple might realize.
The IU study was part of the Center on Philanthropy’s 17th annual symposium. It was co-hosted by the National Center on Black Philantropy.
The reseach suggests that if people are not asked, they don’t give. If you believe people of color are not as generous and you don’t ask them as often it becomes a self-fulfillling prophecy.
For a long while, black social orgs have been able to rely on black philantropy because they could say that you need to support us because of the way society is. But society isn’t like that anymore. There are black members of the community that have more wealth than ever before.
