Non-Profit Film Festival?

One of my friends and co-workers Tom Stagg had this great idea so I wanted to pass it by the readers of this Blog. If we found sponsors and a space to host a non-profit Film Festival here in Austin would you attend? Would you enter films?

Here are the details so far:

1) All Films would have to be entered by non-profit orgs or be films ABOUT non-profits and the work they do

2) You could enter PSAs, Comedy, Narratives or documentaries.
3) There would be no entry fee or a very very cheap fee to help us pay our host

We would not be doing this as the American Cancer Society but as people who love the non-profit community. What do you think? Leave us some comments.

Coats for Caritas Tweetup in Austin, TX

On any given day, 3,500 people can be homeless in Austin. Roughly 1/3 of these are children. We will be collecting coats and warm clothes for Caritas, the homeless shelter in town. Join Mike Chapman, myself, and Michelle Greer in contributing to this cause. So why don’t you get off Twitter and come make a difference?

I will be there at 2:00pm on Sunday to help take the coats. This is also sponsored by the Austin Social Media Club and 501 Tech Club (which is for and run by non-profit folks!)

Drop in for a bit or stick around for a while. There will be a “Stoopid Hat Contest” complete with prizes for the craziest warm hat you can wear to the event. We will then meet at Chapala for Mexican food and margaritas at 6:30.

Join us for the hottest Tweetup ever. Oh yeah…Facebook this stuff today.
