It Pays To DECREASE Your Wordpower

Ever been the only person in a group of people who were speaking a foreign language you didn’t understand? How did that make you feel?

Monica Bay guest posts in The Business Development/Networking Blog about the dangers inherent in using jargon when your prospects don’t know what those words mean. While she writes about sales people selling to attorneys, she could just as easily be writing about any organization selling to any prospect.

One of the worst pieces of jargon I’ve seen is "value proposition." Count the letters and syllables. Now, count the letters and syllables in "benefit."  Plus, I don’t risk sounding pedantic when I use "benefit." (Aside: Am I pedantic when I use the word "pedantic?")

I also link to this blog because Thom, the author, uses a guest author every Friday. Kinda reminds me of the story of Tom Sawyer getting his friends to whitewash the fence.-) I like that idea.
