    There was no one victor … unless you consider the desert to capable of winning. The Cal-tech motorcycle never even started. The vehicle to travel the farthest traversed a full 2 miles before becoming stuck on a rock. Yet an article says that DARPA was impressed with the outcomes. I believe the 2 mile vehicle was the modified dune buggy.
