Google opens opportunity space

"Another day, another Google service," so they say. This time it’s Google Base, a kind of general purpose ad system. The list of pre-set categories for items includes:events, jobs, news articles, reference articles, reviews and want ads. You can create your own category label. It’s all user-created input and it’s free.

So the move is on to see how many ways people can think of to use the service and how well it will catch on. This is plugged into the mighty Google system, so I would think the success factor is pretty high.

One area that already has demonstration postings is the nonprofit area. Google obviously worked with Idealist.org to fill some sample space for the launch of services. They’ve got categories for nonprofit organizations, volunteer projects, community building, etc., etc.

Well, there it is. How can we use it?
