Pew Internet & American Life Project

Pew Internet & American Life Project

According to the latest Pew Internet and American Life survey 17% of Internet users have logged on using a wireless device. Members of Gen Y (those ages 18-27) are far and away the most likely to have used wireless devices – 28% have done so. Well that’s my profile and actually my favorite way to read FI Space and the other Blogs I consume on a daily basis is through a service called Bloglines which automatically formats it for my wireless Treo 600′s browser. Does this mean the always on Internet, in the palm of your hand is truly here?

Toothing

A few months ago I mentioned TunA, a Bluetooth enabled MP3 player that allows users in close proximity to trade songs via the Bluetooth radio frequency. I also suggested that this technology could become a hot way to meet people in dense populated areas such as subways and conferences. Both of these bold predictions came true.

In Great Brittan people are using the Bluetooth technology to find dates while on the tube trains. There is even a weblog dedicated to the phenomenon now called ‘Toothing’.

5 tech trends affecting nonprofit future

Here’s a statement about 5 info-tech trends that will affect nonprofits in coming years. The list includes:

Evolving CRM
Evolving application specific providers–i.e., access to apps over the Ner rather than in-house
On-demand computing–sort of computing power as a utility
Evolution of online communities
Evolution of data analysis–digging into accumulated information rather than sitting in unorganized heaps

What might it add up to? How about another “virtual” office scenario?
