SXSW – Come say Hello
Hey Gang. Looks like I was lucky enough to get a slot speaking at SXSW this year. In fact I got two! Not only is this a first for someone representing non profits, this is a huge step in our representation at SXSW. For the first time in my life I will be speaking at SXSW Interactive AND SXSW Film!
SXSW also contacted me about something very special going down this year…more on that when I can talk about it. In the meantime take a look and let me know which sessions you can come to. Don’t be shy. Come say hello!

Crowd Sourcing Innovative Social Change
Social media builds buzz and raises money, but what about real, on-the-ground change? The Social Change Challenge will crowdsource innovative ideas from nonprofits to change the world. We’ll share big ideas for using social media for nonprofit program delivery and some good tips for crowdsourcing for social change.
Social Media Fundraising and Family Violence
Yesterday I had the honor of presenting to the Texas Council on Family Violence. We had a great conversation and I learned a ton of things from them (and they probably learned a couple of things from me as well). Just wanted to tell them again thanks for having me and here is my presentation as well as some links I promised them around Online Fundraising. More on the Domestic Abuse and Social Media thoughts later this week.

The Austin Statesman Awards – What it Means to Me
Last year I was lucky enough to be named one of the Top 25 Social Media people in the state of Texas. However this was more than just award for me. It was something that really helped propel my career to the next level.
After that award I not only went on to win the American Marketing Associatons Social Media Marketer of the year I also went on to get two new jobs! One as the Co-Founder and Director of my own Non Profit: Lights.Camera.Help. and one as the Senior Digital Strategist at Ridgewood PR. But more than that….winning that award let me do the following:
1) Show that Social Media for Social Good Works
2) Let me meet an AMAZING group of fellow winners (many of whom I am good friends with)
3) Show that Non Profit Communications people really can change the world.
4) Show that Non Profit people GET Social Media.
So will you take a second to check out this years nomination form? I would hope that you can take a second to help change my path again by nominating me.
Thanks!
